Mission
Impossible
According to the latest information China has
400 million children under 15 years of age. That is equivalent to
combining the populations of the United States, Canada and Mexico all
together.
The majority of these children will grow up never attending a Sunday
school or ever hearing the name of Jesus.
After all this is a communist country where teaching children under 18
years of age about Jesus is strictly forbidden. The government would
much rather indoctrinate the minds of these little children with the
message of atheism and communism.
"How will these children ever
hear the Good News?"
Brother Ren, our China co-ordinator states that the leaders of the house
churches only see one option.
Whatever the risk, they know they must reach these 400 million Chinese
children with the message that Jesus loves them and died for them. They
must be given an opportunity to invite the Saviour into their young
lives.
"It is good to hear that AsiaLink Canada will do something for the
children of China," brother Ren says of our commitment to blessing
the children of China. "We are plan-ning to hold seminars for
childrens evangelists and teachers through out China."
Just last month a major training session for children's workers took
place for seven days. At the end of their training these workers were
commissioned to travel and challenge house church pastors and leaders on
how to reach the children in their villages and provinces.
Pastors from such provinces as Anhui, Shanxi, Liaoning, Shangdong and
Heilongjinag are all asking, "help us!"
So with help from AsiaLink Canada the production of new teaching
material is now underway. The very first inside China Sunday School
curriculum, year one, has just been completed and will begin printing
shortly.
In 50 years of communism this is the very first Sunday School curriculum
to ever be produced and developed by Chinese house church believers
inside China. A miracle!
Mission
Impossible, the reaching of 400 million children has taken one bold step
forward into becoming possible.
Yet
one great question remains, who will win the hearts of the children?
The
communist party knows that if it get win the children of this generation
it will be able to hinder the growth of the church.
Jesus'
words remain the greatest challenge, "Let the little children come
to me".
